London – Ontario – Canada
St. Paul’s church is relatively new.
In 1991, Father Athanasius Iskander from St. Mary Coptic Orthodox Church (Kitchener) and a group of 10 families arranged a monthly mass in a rented chapel in St. Joseph’s Hospital in London to celebrate the Liturgy of the Eucharist.
This soon became a monthly habit for the young congregation.
December 1993, the church registered as “Church of St. Paul The Anchorite”.
By 1995, through God’s grace, the number of families had risen to 18.
This gave the board of deacons the financial basis on which they started searching for a permanent church building.
They were successful in their search, by the end of that same year, they had found the perfect house for God.
January 1996, the church was purchased and a month later, on the feast of St. Paul the Anchorite (February 9th), His Grace Bishop Reweis, sent by H. H. Pope Shenouda III, celebrated the first Liturgy of the Eucharist in the newly purchased church.
February 1999, H.H. Pope Shenouda III sanctified the church alter.
The blessing is increasing; the number of families is increasing.
God save our church for us and for next generations.

Our new church story (2007)
The congregation at St. Paul the Anchorite kept increasing with the grace of God and the welcomed addition of the Eritrean families.
Expansion of the present Church was contemplated but abandoned after feasibility studies.
The search for a bigger Church continued for several months until a bigger church in an excellent location in west London was found and quickly agreed upon by all members.
Father Johannes was informed and on return from South Africa went to visit and felt our prayers were truly answered by the intervention of our patron saint Paul the Anchorite.
An offer was placed negotiated modified and accepted leading to the first Eucharist celebrated on September 2nd 2007.
His grace bishop Reweis, representing his Holiness Pope Shenouda III pope of Alexandria, and Father Johannes and many other priests from neighbour churches assisted in the first mass.
A new Iconostasis, marble altar and baptismal area were ordered from Egypt and completion is anticipated
in January/February 2008.
